Practical Art Course

PAINTING SUMMER SCHOOL week

During this week you will be guided through the collection of ideas, making of sketches, and techniques to produce at least one finished painting.

There is no set subject, technique or 'house style'. You will be encouraged to engage in the complete creative process, with the full support and expert guidance of the tutor. If you can, come prepared with some ideas or sketches, photographs, objects, or previous work as a stepping off point. You can use the week for a project you have in mind or you can just see where it takes you!

If you have your own materials: pastels, pencils, charcoal, oils, acrylics, water colours or whatever, please bring them. If you are a complete beginner, please ask for a list of recommendations. It is best to buy the minimum basics to begin with, and add to these as necessary during the course. The studio is equipped with easels.

There will be plenty opportunities for individual tutoring, group discussion and demonstrations.
