Lecturer in Art

Art is quite exceptional in its ability to make us think and feel through visual experience.

Art History equips us with aesthetic understanding, critical skills and a knowledge of historical and stylistic contexts. It helps us to see more.

On this site you will find information about my art gallery talks, lectures, study days and courses. Please join me and open your eyes to art.

Please look at my diary page for cancellations, revised dates and new online lectures.

During the summer months, I am usually teaching summer schools and enjoying research trips abroad. I will, instead, be taking the opportunity to visit some of our wonderful museums and galleries here in the UK, as well as preparing new lectures for the 2021/22 academic year.

There is still considerable uncertainty as to whether large groups will be able to congregate in meeting halls or whether people will feel confident to do so. Where there is a degree of flexibility, plans can be left until nearer the date but some decisions need to be made well in advance. Following a productive - and sociable! - meeting with my regular attendees, it has been decided to continue Monday morning lectures via Zoom this coming autumn.

I am working on the programme but, as before, the series of ten lectures will comprise a mixture of interesting topics: informative and fun. The lectures have been enormously popular so I might consider repeating the autumn 2020 lecture series on Monday afternoon.

A great advantage to online talks is that you can join from wherever you are, provided you have a stable internet connection. If you are not on my mailing list, and are interested in joining, please follow this link: Zoom Art History Lectures with Lynne or contact me via the email address below.

I wish you a happy and healthy summer.
