LYNNE GIBSON

Lecturer in Art

Art is quite exceptional in its ability to make us think and feel through visual experience.

Art History equips us with aesthetic understanding, critical skills and a knowledge of historical and stylistic contexts. It helps us to see more.

On this site you will find information about my art gallery talks, lectures, study days and courses. Please join me and open your eyes to art.

Coronavirus update

Please look at my diary page for cancellations, revised dates and new online lectures.

The Arts world has been hit particularly hard by Covid closures and restrictions. It could be many months before venues can welcome large groups again.

Some Arts Societies are going online with their lectures. Some have deferred lectures until later in 2021, 2022, even 2023. Very sadly my autumn Australia lecture tour has been cancelled. However, this has freed up dates in September and October which I have been pleased to offer to societies that have deferred their spring lectures.

Sadly, also, I have had to cancel my regular spring courses in Cheltenham and Thornbury. In the meantime, I continue to offer a series of online lectures to be streamed live on Monday mornings, from January 11th to March 15th. These will comprise a mixture of interesting topics: informative and fun. The autumn Zoom lectures proved successful beyond my expectations and it has been a heart-warming start to the week to see so many friendly faces, albeit virtually.

A great advantage to online talks is that you can join from wherever you are, provided you have a stable internet connection. If you are on my mailing list you should have heard from me already. If you are not, and are interested in joining, please follow this link: Zoom Art History Lectures with Lynne  for further details.

I wish you a happy and healthy New Year.
